Product Description

Rhodium Plated Celtic Tara Brooch. Tara Brooches originated around 700 A.d.  The Tara Brooch was a Celtic penannular pin, originally used as a fastener on Irish cloaks.  This type of large and detailed design was also a status symbol that designated one’s place in society.  This elegant "Pseudo-penannular" brooch (where there is no opening in the ring, but the design retains features of a penannular brooch)  features a celtic edge design and multi-colored glass stones. Measures 1 1/4" in diameter and 2" long. Intricate celtic design carved on the back. Otherwise unmarked, but extremely similar to the Celtic Tara Brooch manufactured by Solvar Jewelry (Dublin, Ireland). Can be used to fasten shawls, as a skirt or kilt pin, or just to add the right amount of "fancy" to your coat or outfit.
